Civil War Girl’s Youth Dress
Front of the dress with bow belt. Pattern used for this dress. Back of the dress.
This dress was made for a young girl who wanted a dress for a Civil War Ball. Drawers and slip were also made with this dress, but will be in another post. The pattern pictured above is the pattern used for this dress. I did a little altering for the dress because I could not find 8″ lace, so I improvised and made a fabric ruffle out of the remaining fabric and attached it to the bottom. Dress color is actually a teal with small blue print throughout the fabric. (lighting was a little off and it turned out bluer in the picture!) Trim is navy blue lace on the bodice and ruffle trim. The bow is to tie in the front and is separate from the dress. It has hook-and- eye closures. The front of the bodice has gathered smocking with navy blue lace trim from the front to the back. The back of the dress (right side) has black glass/porcelain buttons.
